Under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, every organisation must appoint a "competent person" to help meet its health and safety duties. For many schools, SMEs and community organisations, bringing that in-house isn't practical — that's where we come in. As an IOSH member, Adam provides that competent person support directly, backed by the same practical, no-nonsense approach behind our compliance audit work.

What's included

• Health & safety policy development and review
• Risk assessments beyond fire — manual handling, COSHH, display screen equipment, work equipment and general workplace hazards
• Acting as your external competent person under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
• Accident and incident investigation, including RIDDOR reporting support
• Method statements and risk assessments (RAMS) for contractor and site work
• H&S training needs analysis and toolbox talk coordination

How this differs from a Compliance Audit

Our Compliance Audits are a point-in-time review of fire safety, statutory maintenance and premises H&S. Health & Safety Consultancy is the ongoing version — ourselves acting as your named competent person, keeping policies and risk assessments current, and being on hand when an incident happens or a new activity needs assessing. Many clients use both: an audit to establish the baseline, then ongoing consultancy to keep it current.
